Chalkboard and Floating Shelves

As I was lost in Pinterest land one night, I came across a zillion photos of chalkboards and floating shelves that made coffee bars, bookshelves, and adorable welcome areas in people’s homes. A short time later, Mike and I visited his parent’s house and they had a new adorable chalkboard wall with shelves! It was official – I wanted one too.

For months, I searched for the perfect Chalkboard – not too small, not too huge. Once I found it at Home Goods (p.s. they have a cool new app! – not getting paid to say this, just really love Home Goods), I did a little DIY project. Originally, it had a small burlap bow that was 1. too small for the chalkboard and 2. wasn’t my style. So, I went to JoAnn Fabrics and got a cute wooden sign that said “Family”. Some white paint and hot glue later – the chalkboard was complete!

Then, I searched online and all over to find the perfect shelves. After buying ones that were too big for the space (oops – always measure, people…), I found the perfect (and affordable) ones at Target.

Floating Shelves and Chalkboard

Mike measured and leveled and nailed and screwed all the stuff into the wall and voila! Perfectly decorated wall! If you’re wondering about specifics, for the floating shelves – he used some more heavy duty anchors for the screws so it was a little more solid.

I’m so excited to have this wall come together so well!
