Mike’s family is starting a health challenge Nov. 1 and ending on Christmas. Lately, I’ve eaten all the sugar. Literally – any sugar I see, I eat. It’s delicious but terrible for my body. I’m excited to have a reason to get back on the healthy bandwagon. It’s also cool to do it together with family. Another bonus is his parents are giving us prizes if we follow and meet all the guidelines! If you want to start a health challenge with me/us, take a look at the rules and pick out prizes to reward yourself with at the end (but only if you meet the guidelines)!
Part 1: Food
The first part of the challenge is you have to honestly track everything you eat each day. I’m going to use My Fitness Pal. I’ve used it in the past and it works great! It makes me much more aware of the calories, sugar, and carbs I eat. And helps me stay on track for eating more healthy foods. You can track however you want to (apps, pen/paper, etc.).
Part 2: Personal Goals
Health means different things to different people. So, the rule is you have to write down your health goals on a piece of paper and seal them in an envelope to open on Christmas. Here are my health goals:
My Health Goals
- Elliptical (or workout) 1x/week in November for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.
- Elliptical (or workout 2x/week in December for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.
- Use the under-the-desk bike at work 2x/week every week for a minimum of 30 minutes each time.
- Lose 7 lbs.
I put together a printable to track my goals throughout the challenge. I’m going to put it in my closet since I will see it every day. If you’d like a copy of my goal tracker and a fill out the form:
